Erin Green
Erin Green's approach to winemaking begins in the vineyard: "We start with our relationships in the vineyard and we pro-actively build very strong relationships with the growers themselves. Our goal is to help our growers produce grapes of a caliber that we can be proud to use in the creation of Pahlmeyer wines."
A perfectionist by nature, Erin takes no shortcuts in winemaking, instead adhering to practices such as fermenting small lots in individual tanks with native, wild yeast and pressing and aging each lot separately. Erin has a special gift for blending and tasting wines, evidenced in the extraordinary wines she's produced since taking over as Director of Winegrowing and Winemaker. She holds her winery team, her vineyard team and the grape growers to the same uncompromising high standard she sets for herself.
Becoming fascinated with the science of winemaking and winegrowing as an undergraduate at UC Davis, Erin pursued a degree in Fermentation Science with an emphasis on Enology. After graduating, she began working part time for both Helen Turley and Sonoma-Cutrer, later becoming Winemaker at Vinwood Cellars, a Sonoma County custom crush facility. In the early 1990's Erin was instrumental in launching Napa Wine Company, the custom crush facility for which she was Director of Winemaking. Her next position was with the negociant label Stone Creek, where she utilized her blending skills for almost a decade. During this time, Erin continued to work with Helen Turley on her clients' wines, including Bryant Family, Colgin, Martinelli and Pahlmeyer. The transition to becoming Director of Winegrowing and Winemaker for Pahlmeyer in 2000 was thus a natural move.
Like the wines she crafts, Erin is bold and dynamic. She exudes spirit, candor and wit. Erin was raised in Sonoma County, where she currently lives with her twin daughters.
