The birthday of our fearless leader, my dad Jayson Pahlmeyer, falls on December 24th. Scoring just the right gift for the man who has everything might be a challenge were it not for his favorite birthday tradition: a Pahlmeyer family feast of Crab & Chardonnay.
Dungeness Crab season is in full swing in Northern California this time of year, and it’s also when we release our Napa Valley Chardonnay. Talk about an ideal pairing!
Jayson relishes the annual trip to our local fish monger where he selects their biggest crabs. He insists on cleaning them himself, and cooking them in salt water. We dress the dining table with newspaper and haul out heaping bowls of fresh cracked crab with Jayson’s favorite accompaniment – Best Foods mayonnaise.
