Sustainable Viticulture

Pahlmeyer Estate Vineyards reflect a commitment to sustainable farming. Carefully-selected grasses are grown for erosion and dust control, water depletion, beneficial insect habitat and the nutrients released into the soil as they decompose. Organic compost is used in areas requiring additional nutrients, while intricate canopy management ensures ample sunlight and air flow.

Every aspect of vine work is done by hand and bird boxes and perches welcome birds of prey, natural predators of gophers and other root-feeding pests. Water usage is micro-managed with customized systems and individual drip lines so that irrigation is minimized in each vineyard sub-block.
