Critics

91 Points

Wine Spectator, May 31, 1996

"A ripe, rich, full-bodied Bordeaux-style red that shows its plush and complex side already, though still young. The tiers of cherry, currant, anise and spice finish with thick but polished tannins and a rich aftertaste. Impressive for its depth and concentration."

88-91 Points

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate #98, April 1995

"Pahlmeyer's 1993 has an unbelievable resemblance to a fine vintage of Bordeaux's renowned Chateau Leoville Las-Cases. The saturated dark ruby/purple color is followed by a wonderfully pure, vivid nose of blackcurrants, minerals, and spicy, high quality oak. Medium to full-bodied, rich and elegant, this well-endowed, beautifully concentrated, graceful Cabernet Sauvignon will need 5-7 years of cellaring; it will keep for 20+ years. This fascinating wine could easily be confused with a top class Medoc if tasted blind."
